Human life is complex. It can be beautiful; it can be challenging. It can entail great happiness, but it can also entail great suffering. My aim as a therapist is to address this complex reality as it relates to each person, couple, or family in accordance with their own needs. Building on these distinct needs, my goal is to help foster genuine change that addresses the unique challenges people face as they aim to live flourishing lives. Sometimes change is extremely difficult, and the way forward seems unclear or unattainable. But with the right guidance, humans can be directed to the potential they possess and learn how to cultivate their inner gifts in such a way that enables them to confront the challenges they are facing with new perspective and hope. With fresh perspective and insight, people can break free from old patterns and cycles of behavior and repattern the ways they connect with self, others, and the world. Such a healing is a holistic healing because it addresses the full spectrum of relationships which are central to our identities and well-being. For over 20 years, I have enjoyed working as a therapist, supervisor, trainer and Clinical Director. My experience extends beyond my current work in the U.S. beginning with my initial practice in my birth country Colombia, were I studied and worked as a Clinical Psychologist. As a bi-lingual (English/Spanish) therapist, I have the opportunity to work with people in differing cultural contexts, I have developed insight and competencies that address the differing shape that challenges can take culturally. Furthermore, I have worked with children, teens, adults, couples, families, and groups as it pertains to issues of severe mental health, depression and anxiety, behavioral issues, substance abuse, life cycle transitions and adjustment crisis, parenting, trauma, survivors of sexual assault, domestic and intimate partner violence, blended and divorced families, and other complex issues. As I understand it, therapy is an exercise of compassion, discovery and challenge. My work aims to foster spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, and relational growth through a variety of effective therapeutic approaches. As humans we all confront life’s complex realities and often need wisdom, guidance, and direction to bring about healing and wellbeing. As my calling, I am passionate about helping people find restoration, resolution, balance and wholeness. My experience with seeing the benefits of successful therapy leaves me with high hopes that anyone can grow, heal, and flourish as a result of the process.
